TEAM ASSEMBLES IN KIEV

The Australian team for the 2007 World Orienteering Championships have fully assembled in Kiev. Yesterday the last athletes and team officials arrived to the Ukraine and checked into Hotel Adria, the teams residence for the next 10days.

Rob Walter (ACT) and Reuben Smith (SA) register at team check in.
World Champs debutant, Reuben Smith, shows off his accreditation.
Julian Dent (NSW) unpacks into Hotel Adria, where he will call home for the next 10days.
Rob Walter and Kathryn Ewels (VIC) head out to a little light training a day ahead of their sprint qualifing races. Official "model races" are arranged for athletes to put final touches to their training and simulate what they can expect on race day.

Julian Dent and Brett Weihart (mens coach) stock up on water. Kiev is expecting continued high temperatures over the next week, into the +30's.
The team gets together in the evening for a meeting and discuss race information for the following day. Then it's off for a massage or early night... zzz
Keep upto date over the next week of racing by following the team blog. We will try and update you with news and photos from within the team as much as possible.
Signing off from Hotel Adria near the banks of the River Dnipero (No swimming! Chenobyle is up stream not far away). Troy

You all look so skinny. You need a good feed. If you want a great recipe, I'm your man! Anything from Nouvelle Cuisine to a Rajasthani barbeque, just ask. Reuben will cook. Now I'm off to lawn bowls in the fog. It's semi-final day in the club pairs 2007 champs, and my partner and I have a title to defend. Reubes, you need a haircut. See ya. I'll be watching..... Nev B

Hey everyone,

Take the swim in the river... it sounds hot and not all mutations are harmful (eg. tmnt). Looking forward to the results and the stories; superhuman and otherwise. GOOD LUCK!!
